This is the ending of my book, Stylus Stories- Musings of a Marginally Maltese Australian: "During the southern hemisphere summer, I live in peace and quiet on what is left of the property. I never tire of looking out onto the stunning escarpments and valleys of the Blue Mountains. Sometimes, on a sunny Sunday morning when the vista is particularly beautiful, I like to play a 1974 American country-rock LP by the band, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils called, It’ll Shine When It Shines. The old vinyl album is a collection of folksy, naïve style and optimistic hippie-type songs set within the farming country of Missouri/Arkansas/Oklahoma. It has songs with titles like, It Couldn’t Be Better, What's Happened Along in My Life and It’ll Shine When It Shines. The first song on Side One of the LP is called, You Made it Right. That first song describes a mountainous landscape and includes the lyrics, “I have stones on the mountain, and a clear blue windswept sky, thank you Lord… Lord… Lord… you made it right, you made it right”. Listening to that song on a sunny Sunday morning while absentmindedly gazing into the spectacular view from my back deck, always takes me back to a happy place and to a time when I had a farm in South Bowenfels."

Before anything is said about that southern flag in the background, southerners just always related it to having southern pride. That’s it and nothing about racism , we were just proud to be from the south. Nobody ever thought anything about it being racist. We’re just good ole southerners and proud of it. Had nothing to do with what a certain group turned it into when it fit their narrative. I can tell you there wasn’t anything racist about these fine men. They loved everyone !!

Always knew she was a great singer but the way she sang in Pirates of Penzance was next level. Heard her tell an interviewer recently that she can't sing any longer due to her health problems, then she sang a little with some friends who dropped by. The interviewer said, "But you were just singing there." She responded, "No, that wasn't singing." Her jazz work with Nelson Riddle was also great. Riddle had never heard of her before but his granddaughter assured him, "Don't worry, her checks won't bounce."
